Comments on mathematics and its applications


This article makes some very brief remarks about mathematics and its applications. It is help answer the common question about whether or not you need mathematics, mainly careers in engineering, social sciences, natural sciences, etc.

  1. The history of science shows that many of the mathematical theories are based on practical .


  2. Today mathematics has grown and we can speak of pure mathematics, as the theories developed by solving problems within own mathematics.


  3. However, it is possible both to solve a practical problem with an existing mathematical theory, and create a new theory to a practical problem. Also solve a practical problem of a mathematical theory that has remained as pure for many years. The reality is that every mathematical theory is a candidate to be used for solve some practical problems. Simply because the mathematics are human thought ordered.


  4. Many cases can be mentioned. for example the study of primes was 35 years ago was exclusive to a small specialized group of mathematicians. Currently have a direct application in information security.


Conclusions


  1. Therefore not correct to say if a mathematical theory used to something or not. But rather, the right thing is to solve a practical problem with any mathematical theory, including those that have remained pure until today.


  2. It is not true that there are mathematical theories that are useful and others not. Rather, some have been used, and is a challenge to use those so far not been used..


  3. Today mathematics is used in many areas of human endeavor, including music, art, criminology, cooking, etc. etc.


Applications of Mathematics



Then we give a short list of some applications of mathematics. The question is not where to apply mathematics. But rather, where there are no mathematics to create them. As a natural way to solve problems.
